"Feeling No Regrets" was originally intended for a song production assignment when I was in music school at Centennial College in Toronto in early 2014. For my music production class, I was assigned to produce an original tune under 3 minutes on Logic Pro X. This was around the time the Plaid On Flannel band started on February 15, 2014. Since my previous song assignments for my production classes were all composed using MIDI software instrumentation, I wanted to record using my guitars and vocals this time. With the elation of the new POF band beginning. That's when I came up with the idea for the music of "Feeling No Regrets". Even though it was at a fast tempo, I still couldn't make the song under 3 minutes. Because I knew that specific tune needed more time to shine. So I ditched the song, and ended up using MIDI software instruments on a completely new composition for the assignment.

The Plaid On Flannel band played regular gigs as a 3-piece into 2014, and I was putting together my new stuff to record on the 3rd POF album Primitive Normative. The lyrics for "Feeling No Regrets" were written on July 13, 2014. With a lot of lines in the song, it's an optimistic tune about living a life of integrity and consistency. So that no regrets will be felt later on down the road. The line "Keeping an eye on the world by my side" is similar to "Keeping an eye on the world going by my window" from "I'm Only Sleeping" by The Beatles. And it was something I didn't realize until after I recorded the song. As if I channeled my inner-Beatles subconsciously when I was writing the lyrics to "Feeling No Regrets".

With "Feeling No Regrets" completely written, I started recording the Primitive Normative rendition of the tune on January 17, 2015. This version of the song uses a lot of slide guitar in the choruses and bridge. There's another guitar in "Feeling No Regrets" that plays harmonics in the 2nd verse, 3rd verse and bridge of the tune. I finished the Primitive Normative version of "Feeling No Regrets" on February 14, 2015. Keyboardist Jen Doyon joined the Plaid On Flannel band on February 22, 2015. As a 4-piece, we started rehearsing "Feeling No Regrets" in about September of 2015. While becoming a live staple for the band, we recorded a new version of "Feeling No Regrets" for our Rising Above EP which we released on May 14, 2016. "Feeling No Regrets" is a song I hold close to my heart, and it will live on in POF's live repertoire of songs for a long time.
